Senior Debating Society
The Senior Debating Society meets in Room 12 at lunchtime on Thursdays. Debates range from the serious to the not-so-serious. Motions debated in 2006-2007 include “This house believes that university students should not have to pay tuition fees”, “This house believes that celebrities should be role models as well as entertainers” and “This house believes that Northern Ireland is a rubbish place to live”.
In addition to our standard format debates, we also have an annual balloon debate and teachers’ debate.
All girls from forms four to upper sixth are invited to participate in our debates. The society is also keen to welcome new members, particularly those who were involved in Junior Debating.
Any queries about the senior debating society should be directed to Dr McBride, or to the committee members (see the notice board for details).
