Religious Studies KS4
All pupils take Religious Studies at GCSE, following either the GCSE Full Course, or the GCSE Short Course options.
GCSE Short Course is of the same standard as the full GCSE, it is simply half the volume of material covered in half the number of periods. It is recognised qualification, equivalent to half a GCSE and appears with other subjects taken on the GCSE certificate.
Full Course
Three modules are taken:
1) The Challenge of Jesus – looking at the teachings and deeds of Jesus and their significance for today.
2) The Christian Church – exploring why there are so many Christian denominations and studying the similarity and difference in their belief and practice.
3) Christian Morality – exploring moral questions from a Christian perspective, e.g. issues of Abortion, Euthanasia, Marriage, Divorce, etc.
