Physical Education GCSE
At Key Stage 4, all pupils have a minimum weekly time allocation of 1 hour and 10 minutes.
In Years 11 and 12, pupils engage in a thorough health-related fitness component involving aerobics, use of a fitness suite and circuits. Other selected activities include basketball, volleyball, hockey, netball, badminton, tag rugby, tennis, athletics and rounders.
GCSE Physical Education
Physical Education is offered as a GCSE option. Strathearn follow the AQA Specification A syllabus in which 60% of the overall mark is derived from practical performance in four activities, which are assessed as coursework. The remaining 40% of the overall mark is achieved through in depth theoretical areas of study and is examined in a 2 hour external paper in May of Year 12
