Strathearn Old Girls Association

The Old Girls’ Association is nearly as old as the school itself. The first secretary, Miss Ethel Garrett was a pupil of the school before returning to teach the Lower Kindergarten. She then taught P1 at Penrhyn for many years.
All former pupils and staff are welcome to join.
The Old Girls used to meet at school for talks by interesting speakers and had an annual summer outing to places of interest.
Nowadays, they meet at the annual dinner, usually held in March, and at the Boxing Day hockey tournament.
In 2007, the speaker at the dinner was Margaret Mountford, well remembered at Strathearn as Margaret Gamble. She pursued a career in law after leaving school, but more recently worked with Sir Alan Sugar on the Apprentice TV programme. She was a very entertaining after-dinner speaker in the Clandeboye Lodge Hotel. (Photographs in May 2007 Ulster Tatler)
The Boxing Day morning tournament is enjoyed by players and spectators alike. Old Girls come to catch up with friends and enjoy watching the Strathearn School, Victoria College and Old Girls’ teams running off their Christmas dinners!

Class of 1998 Reunion
Head girl Nicola McVeigh is organising a reunion for the class of 1998 during Christmas 2008. Please notify anyone you know in that year group and look up further details on Facebook - Strathearn Leavers 1998 Christmas reunion 2008.
Reunion of head and deputy head girls
Before our new build commences we are very keen to gather together past head girls and deputies. To assist with this process we would ask that email or postal contact details be forwarded to Maureen Dibble to allow us to organise such a reunion.
We will also be having an event for all past pupils to tour the current buildings and see the plans for the new. Again, to assist us with publicity for this event, could you pass any contact details to Maureen. Many thanks.
School Visits
If you are having a reunion do feel free to contact the school as Mr Manning or one of the senior staff would be very pleased to give your party a tour.
