Modern Languages KS3

All pupils study French in Form 1 and choose between German and Spanish in Form 2 as a second language. Presently four classes study Spanish and one class studies German for three periods per week.

The girls study both languages until the end of Form 3, when everyone must continue with at least one language to GCSE.

On Tuesday 20th October 2009, Form 1 had the opportunity to learn some German when Martina Schwarz visited Strathearn in the afternoon.

Martina is German actress and musician who works with the Goethe Institute in London.  She travels around the country introducing young people to the German language through music and song.

The girls thoroughly enjoyed singing along to her accordion and hopefully this will inspire them to keep up their enthusiasm for learning languages.
