Maths GCSE

Strathearn School

All girls in Strathearn will sit GCSE Mathematics Examinations at the end of their 5th Year. We follow the CCEA two tier specification at the higher level (Teaching modules N4 and N6)

The GCSE course in Strathearn is designed to promote “continuity, coherence and progression within the subject of Mathematics”. We have developed a unique programme of study to ensure that the girls have the opportunity to enhance the knowledge and skills that they acquired in KS3 and of course to become more secure Mathematicians as they continue to accumulate new skills. Each teacher at this level aims to encourage the girls to grow in confidence and to take pride in their Mathematical abilities in order to reach and fulfil their potential.

At GCSE level each pupil will have 6 periods of Mathematics per week. Strathearn School can also boast a large percentage of girls who choose to take GCSE Additional Maths. This accelerated course provides an excellent link between GCSE and A level.
