Maths KS3

 Strathearn School

The Mathematics Department in Strathearn School develop pupils’ skills and subject knowledge for number, shape and space, algebra and data handling. Pupils are encouraged to recognise how a situation can be described mathematically, to appreciate patterns and to produce imaginative and creative work arising from their studies.

At KS3 pupils are taught in form classes and have six periods a week of mathematics. They enjoy a variety of teaching strategies and resources throughout KS3. The Nelson Thornes Key Maths series is used as a text book and is supported by a range of activities and ICT tasks that encourage pupils to discuss their work with others and that enable students to experience the application of mathematics to solve problems.

Strathearn School

Pupils are given regular feedback on their work through teacher, peer and self assessments. Pupils are encouraged to evaluate their work, looking at what they have done well and how they can improve their work.
