About the Department
Over the years we have enhanced our resources and our teaching programme to enable our pupils to be amongst the best educated in the province in all aspects of ICT.
We develop the girl’s skills from form one right through to upper sixth with the provision of dedicated ICT classes delivered by experienced and committed staff.
Whilst meeting the requirements of the Northern Ireland curriculum, the basis of the KS3 ICT curriculum in Strathearn School is the European Computer Driving Licence. This qualification is recognised worldwide and is highly regarded by employers and educational establishments alike.
Alongside this we offer pupils the chance to undertake a more specialised study of ICT through the CCEA GCSE and A level qualifications in ICT.
We feel that this is the best way in which we can ensure that our pupils enter the world of work or academia with the skills needed in an ever increasing technologically dependent society.
The department currently has 3 specialised ICT rooms, all equipped with up-to-date PCs, scanners, colour and monochrome printers and data projectors. All PCs have Internet access and are connected to the whole school network.
In addition to these rooms, there are also numerous PCs, printers and data projectors sited around the school.
