What will I study?
A.Q.A. G.C.S.E. DRAMA
The G.C.S.E. drama course is taught five periods a week and encompasses learning a huge range of drama and theatre skills. It is a practical course that builds confidence in performance in front of a variety of audiences. There will be numerous trips to local theatre productions so that the pupils can appreciate and review live drama.
40% Examination in June of fifth form:
- Section A = Practical work completed during the course.
- Section C = Study of a live theatre performance seen.
Coursework / Practical
Pupils will complete four practical units from the list above at Strathearn over two years ranging from acting, to scripted work, to devised performances. Each unit will be marked by the Teacher-in-Charge and the final practical unit will be externally moderated. The two best units per pupil will create 60% of the overall G.C.S.E. mark.
What exams will I take?
An examination in June of fifth form will require pupils to answer questions based on the performance that the external moderator witnessed and also an essay based on a review of live live theatre that they will get to see throughout the two year course. The examination is worth 40% of the overall grade.
